Estonia joined the European union on the 1st May 2004 and joined the Euro currency on the 1st January 2011.
The electronics and mechanics sectors have been one of the most rapidly expanding sectors in Estonia. The combination of relatively low wages with good technical and language skills and high productivity levels has proved the key to success for many companies that have set up in Estonia.
